Ranch Rat Stories

Hi my name is David, but everyone calls me JJ. I have been going out to the Mustang Rescue Ranch since I was about 4, but I never really got into the horse riding part of it until I was about 6 or 7. I am 15 now and still enjoy the riding, but I still think it is just the way things are there. No one is allowed to fight and we all help each other whether it is with horse stuff or with school stuff or if we just need to talk to someone. There was always someone you could talk to. Like a lot of the other kids there, there was a drug problem at my home too, so this was a safe place to be. Now that the ranch has moved, I really miss it, and it shows in many ways. I find I lose my temper a lot, and I yell at everyone. I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to control it now. Before at the ranch I didn’t do it. Maybe it is just that now things are different, and I was not ready for the change. I know I really felt good watching the new foals being born and helping the little kids ride and learn. I loved going out on calls to help people that for one reason or another needed help feeding and caring for their animals. I know if Grandma and Pa saw the way I am now they would be mad, but I guess they should be. I try real hard to be nice to my brothers and everyone else except my sister Kylyn. I love to make her mad just because I can. I love my mom, but she is having a real hard time with health issues right now. She has cancer, and the operation didn’t heal right. I know I wish none of this would have ever happened and the ranch could still be down here. I really need it.
